Protocol has developed a complete system to effectively remove and prevent efflorescence.

First, using eco-friendly, spray-on WhiteAway Remover, efflorescence (and residual dirt and grime) is safely dissolved so as not to destroy delicate surfaces. Once cleaned, the surface can be treated with either VersaGuard or DualGuard which prevents efflorescence from reoccurring.

Efflorescence develops as moisture and water migrate through concrete and dissolve and react with elements present in concrete such as alkaline calcium components, salts and hydroxide residues. These dissolved elements are then carried to the surface where the moisture is dissolved and a whitish (usually) material is left behind. Over time, this whitish material, efflorescence, hardens on the surface and is difficult to remove.
